SOLITUDE + SILENCE

Do you spend enough time alone?

I won't lie, the last week has been tough, really turbulent n tough. Dredging through the depths of my murky mud until I found the lotus again.

What helps me the most is spending quiet time alone in nature. This is now NON-NEGOTIABLE as it allows me to release, renew and recalibrate.

Also want to clarify that Solitude and Loneliness are very different things. This last year of enforced social isolation has pushed many of us into deep loneliness which can lead to depression. This can be counteracted by slow n steady social interactions. Solitude on the other hand is when you consciously choose time spent alone; which I do regularly.

I looove people, am a great networker and truly feel like a spider in my own little web of humanity on most days. This is probably why I crave solitude as much as the connection, for balance n harmony.

When alone I get a chance to replenish my energy, rebalance the elements within, and make time for processing all that info received from previous connections. I take myself away from people; deep into nature; either the woods or my favourite park in London, away from noise n distraction, which my ego dislikes but my soul loves!

When in nature with its expansive energy, I'm free to return to my inner landscape to recalibrate so that when I do turn outwards once more, it's with fresh energy and in my fullest self.

This is the way ancient women used to live anyway, in tune with the natural rhythms of cycles and seasons of our bodies, the moon and mother earth's body. This is the way our maternal lineage would have lived, before the patriarchy distorted and disrupted our own relationships with each other and ourselves. Returning to surrendering to our inner cycle is how nature intended and is the wisest way to live whole and well.

Hope you take some time to surrender into solitude for yourself. Especially in these times when everything is crumbling around us, when ALL that we 'KNOW'' is being brought into question...
